Please us about you, what you do, and about your business.

Hi! I'm Jacquelyn Son, a dating coach, spiritual baddie, and podcast host. I help single women overcome limiting beliefs and manifest their dream partner, through astrology and shifting their mindset.

What's your own background? How did you start your brand?

I've always had a very entrepreneurial spirit, I've started numerous businesses in the past and have dipped in and out of the 9-5 life. At one point in my life, I was a personal trainer and health coach for many years. After I had transitioned out of that chapter of my life, I thought I never wanted to be a coach again. Fast forward a few years, I had manifested my dream job, at the time, which was working as a marketing manager for a Youtube production company. I eventually got laid off from that position due to the pandemic, which I took as a sign from the universe pushing me to do what I've always wanted to do - be an entrepreneur.

But I had no idea what type of business I wanted to create at this time. I decided to truly surrender to the universe and not initiate any action out of fear (which is what I did a lot of in the past). I told the universe 'what' type of life I wanted and decided to wait for intuitive guidance to show me the 'how' on moving forward. I had been a workaholic and overachiever in the past - which I learned were trauma responses and after being laid off, my lesson was to learn how to prioritize rest and play in my life.

I ended up being led to take this online course called BGA by Vanessa Lau, which is a program that helps online coaches launch successful businesses. Vanessa is a multiple 7-figure business owner and I felt like I related to her journey a lot, because I went to the same university as her and had seen her grow her business from the beginning. I didn't even know I wanted to be a coach again, but through taking the course I realized that one of the biggest accomplishments in my life has been the decision to leave my toxic 13-year relationship, which led to me manifesting my dream partner very soon afterwards. I had already loved speaking about this experience all the time, so I thought why not help other women attract a healthy relationship as well? I realized I didn't enjoy coaching in the past as much, because I wasn't attracting the right type of clients who would be a good fit for me. I also realized why all my business ventures didn't succeed in the past - it was because I had to go through all those experiences to learn the lessons I know now, in order to be a dating coach.

What's going well right now? What are you grateful for?

So many things are going well! When I shifted my energy to an abundance mindset, I've been attracting only more abundance. I'm grateful for my wonderful healthy relationship with my boyfriend, the supportive friends around me, and that the universe always has my back.

What are your 3 biggest goals when it comes to building your business and brand?

1) Making sure I prioritize self-care - as a coach and content creator, my energy is so important to me. When I feel good within myself, I am able to tackle any assignment that the universe gives me!

2) To have fun - if I'm not enjoying myself, I know there's something I need to change.

3) To move on from disappointments quickly - one thing I learned from taking the BGA course is that you should EXPECT disappointments as an entrepreneur. There are no failures, but only feedback. A big goal of mine is to not take anything personally and realize that it's just an opportunity to pivot and learn.

What's important to you about reaching these goals? What is your "why" building your brand?

My "why" is to answer whatever calls the universe gives me. I used to be so focused on receiving external validation for my successes, but I realized that I needed to shift my focus to creating internal validation for myself. What's most fulfilling to me is empowering others to see their worth and become their best self emotionally, mentally and physically.

What are some resources, books, articles or podcasts that have been useful to you, and would share with the audience?

3 books that have truly changed my life and helped me overcome my past traumas are:

1) How To Do The Work by Dr. Nicole LePera

2) The Mountain Is You by Brianna Wiest

3) How To Heal Your Life by Louise Hay

If you could go back to 5 years ago, what advice would you give yourself?

I would tell myself that life is a process of trial and error. It's okay to try something, have it not work out, and then move onto the next thing. Haven't something not work out for you is actually a great thing, because you now know what you DON'T want. This can be applied to all areas of life including your relationships, health, and career. You don't need to be so attached to whatever you are creating. Sometimes you can create just for the sake of creating and it doesn't need to be the thing that defines you.

What message or mission statement would you like to share?

Prioritize play in your life and everything else will follow. If you're not having fun, something needs to be adjusted.
